Food Insecurity stops with us!

Over the last 70+ years, the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) has been committed to addressing basic human needs in the Des Moines Metro. Today, the DMARC Food Pantry Network consists of 14 permanent pantry locations, multiple mobile food pantry sites, and a home delivery program—all focused on providing nutritious food and essential hygiene supplies to individuals and families facing food insecurity. In addition to direct assistance, DMARC engages in advocacy, education and outreach to identify and address the root causes of the issues affecting our community.

Donating Food

When you donate nonperishable items, DMARC is able to provide a greater selection of food within our Food Pantry Network. Imagine the surprise and delight on a child's face when they walk in and see their favorite box of healthy cereal sitting on the shelf!

Keep in mind that food donations need to be sorted by volunteers before they can be distributed to our Network. DMARC always welcomes volunteers who are willing to spend an hour or two helping us with these tasks!

Donating Funds

While food donations will always be important for the support of communities, cash donations can do even more! Working with food wholesalers and other sources, DMARC can acquire 2 to 6 times more food with your donated dollars.

Cash donations buy 2–6x more food!!
